I never thought I would be a big iPad user. Personally, I thought they were not as powerful as a computer, and there was much to be desired even when taking into account the portability they would give me. I just couldn't justify using one, or even desiring to use one, often enough to buy one. However, I've recently been able to get my hands on a brand new iPad Mini 4 with 64GB of storage space. I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised.
Having just finished The Magicians by Lev Grossman, I wanted to get some of my thoughts recorded as soon as possible. I have a feeling that as I have more time to process the novel, there will be quite a few things this review will miss. However, I'm too excited to simply wait it out, so I'm going to write this review now.
First, I'm impressed with this book. It's been a while since I read a book that was so original and captivating that I couldn't put it down. That is, until now. I began reading The Magicians on a Thursday evening, and I finished reading the following Sunday morning. I found it to be a fast read, wholly engrossing and enjoyable to work my way through. The book was also packed with original ideas hidden within well-known cliches, and displayed some head-spinning concepts and themes throughout.
